SAN DIEGO AND SEATTLE, April 24, 2003 Javo Beverage Company™, a manufacturer of premium coffee concentrates and extracts, and Pura Vida Coffee, a roaster and marketer of specialty coffees, will offer the first 100 percent Fair Trade, shade-grown, organic coffee that can be conveniently dispensed on demand, the two companies announced today. Beginning next week, universities, school districts, hospitals, restaurants, convention centers, prisons, churches and other high-volume food service operators with the desire to serve a socially responsible cup of coffee will be able to choose a premium liquid concentrate.

"For customers across the country, Pura Vida Coffee has developed a brand that carries a high level of trust about the origin of the coffee," said Cody C. Ashwell, Javo Beverage Company's CEO. "By combining Pura Vida's world-wide supply chain and our coffee extraction technology, we are able to offer a coffee program that meets the needs of many large institutional customers, without compromise."

According to terms of the agreement, the two initial varieties, Liquid Organic French Roast and Liquid Premium Roast Decaf, will become part of the core product lines for Pura Vida Coffee and Javo Beverage Company. The co-branded coffees will begin shipping to several large university campuses next week and the companies' sales teams will introduce the product line nationally in the coming months.

A recent survey revealed that 83 percent of students, when given the choice between two products with equal price and quality, said they would choose the product related to a good cause.

"Fresh brewing our coffee using Javo's technology produces a truly superior cup of coffee," commented John Sage, Pura Vida Coffee Founder and President. "Many organizations have expressed interest in supporting our Fair Trade organic coffees, but have been unable to because they needed a liquid concentrate solution for their high volume operations.
